REALROADZ are an established Community Interest Company currently working towards designing, developing and implementing the best youth development programmes and activities in London.
Our work is based on techniques extracted from psychology, sociology, neuro -linguistic programming, life coaching, youth impact coaching, quantum physics and the biology of individuals beliefs.
We deliver programmes and projects which assist the transmission of young people into a healthy and happy adult life.
A core foundation of work comes from the belief that young people are leaving the education system without the necessary skills for a successful adult life. The Young Citizens' Action Agenda issued to the Prime Minister in December 2008 stated that young people want to be taught life skills and society and we have seen the effectiveness of this whilst conducting our projects. The majority of young people we work with are extremely enthusiastic about the workshops and often there are positive changes to their individual thought processes.
Workshops are delivered by fully qualified REALROADZ Youth Impact Coaches who have all been trained in the area previously mentioned. This allows them to be able to deliver excellent empowering knowledge in a user friendly digestible fashion. All of our coaches are recruited from our workshops. This means they have great knowledge of the subject and experience in the application process. Young people are easily able to relate to our coaches because they see them as similar and this has a very positive influence on the result of the workshops.
REALROADZ support the aims of the National Curriculum to enable young people to become 'Confident Individuals' and 'Responsible Citizens' as well as its increased focus on developing social and emotional skills. Consequently, our workshops help schools to fulfil the Ofsted criteria to promote community cohesion and assist with the implementation of the PLTS framework.
We also aim to promote and incorporate the Every child matters green paper agenda. In 2003 the Government published a Green Paper called Every Child Matters. This was published alongside the formal response to the report into the death of Victoria Climbié, the young girl who was horrifically abused and tortured, and eventually killed by her great aunt and the man with whom they lived.
The Green Paper built on existing plans to strengthen preventative services by focusing on four key themes:
•Increasing the focus on supporting families and carers the most critical influence on children's lives.
•Ensuring necessary intervention takes place before children reach crisis point and protecting children from falling through the net.
•Addressing the underlying problems identified in the report into the death of Victoria Climbié weak accountability and poor integration.
•Ensuring that the people working with children are valued, rewarded and trained.
The Green Paper prompted an unprecedented debate about services for children, young people and families. There was a wide consultation with people working in children's services, and with parents, children and young people.
Following the consultation, the Government published Every child matters: The next steps, and passed the Children Act 2004, providing the legislative spine for developing more effective and accessible services focused around the needs of children, young people and families.
